"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" ( Peter 5:7).
Here's some of what the Bible says about:
Agitation
Anger
Depression
Discouragement
Eternal life
Fear
Frustration
Guilt
Impatience
Insecurity
Insult
Jealousy
Loneliness
Low self-esteem
Pain
Sickness
Suffering and death
Temptation
Weariness
Worry
Agitation
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as
the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be
afraid" (John 14:27).
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace
of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6,7).
Anger
"'In your anger do not sin' : Do not let the sun go down while you are
still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold." (Ephesians 4:26,27).
"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to
listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not
bring about the righteous life that God desires" (James 1:19,20).
Depression
"I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He
lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet
on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my
mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their
trust in the LORD" (Psalm 40:1-3).
"The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from
all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves
those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all" (Psalm 34:17-19).
Discouragement
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In
my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told
you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me
that you also may be where I am" (John 14:1-3 ).
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of
them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor
forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Eternal Life
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes
in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in
me will never die. Do you believe this?'" (John 11:25,26).
"Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a
building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling,
because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we
are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to
be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what
is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has made us for
this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing
what is to come" (2 Corinthians 5:1-5).
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the
glory that will be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18).
Fear
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your
God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my
righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10).
"He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in
the LORD. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will
look in triumph on his foes" (Psalm 112:7,8).
"You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround
me with songs of deliverance" (Psalm 32:7).
Frustration
"You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you
will receive what he has promised" (Hebrews 10:36).
"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he
trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the
Rock eternal" (Isaiah 26:3,4).
Guilt
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
"I have swept away your offences like a cloud, your sins like the
morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you" (Isaiah 44:22).
"'Come now, let us reason together,' says the LORD. 'Though your sins
are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as
crimson, they shall be like wool'" (Isaiah 1:18).
"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
in accordance with the riches of God's grace" (Ephesians 1:7).
"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no
more" (Hebrews 8:12).
Impatience
"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when
men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes"
(Psalm 37:7).
"Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer
waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for
the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because
the Lord's coming is near" (James 5:7,8).
Insecurity
"What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can
be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us
all --how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all
things?" (Romans 8:31,32).
"For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says
to you, Do not fear; I will help you" (Isaiah 41:13).
"So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be
afraid. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:6).
Insult
"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you,
persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of
me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in
the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you ... But I
tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that
you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on
the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the
unrighteous" (Matthew 5:10-12 and 44-45).
Jealousy
"But if you harbour bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do
not boast about it or deny the truth. Such 'wisdom' does not come down
from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you
have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil
practice" (James 3:14-16).
"Do not be overawed when a man grows rich, when the splendour of his
house increases; for he will take nothing with him when he dies, his
splendour will not descend with him" (Psalm 49:16,17).
Loneliness
"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me
dwell in safety" (Psalm 4:8).
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my
unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be
removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you" (Isaiah 54:10).
"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you" (John 14:18).
Low Self-Esteem
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created
him; male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27).
"'Love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than
these" (Mark 12:31).
"For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of
yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with
sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given
you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these
members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many
form one body, and each member belongs to all the others" (Romans
12:3-5).
Pain
"'Abba, Father,' he said, 'everything is possible for you. Take this cup
from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will'" (Mark 14:36).
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal
glory that far outweighs them all ... To keep me from becoming conceited
because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a
thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I
pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that
Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight
in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in
difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Corinthians 4:17
and 12:7-10)
Sickness
"Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to
pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the
prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will
raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven" (James 5:14,15).
"The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed
of illness" (Psalm 41:3).
Suffering and Death
"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall
asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe
that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring
with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him" (1 Thessalonians
4:13,14).
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed
in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).
"Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be
changed — in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we
will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the
imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has
been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality,
then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been
swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O
death, is your sting?'" (1 Corinthians 15:51-55)
Temptation
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is
faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But
when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can
stand up under it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).
"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has
stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised
to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting
me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone ...
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from
you" (James 1:12-13 and 4:7).
"Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help
those who are being tempted" (Hebrews 2:18).
Weariness
Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on
wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and
not be faint" (Isaiah 40:31).
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you
rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and
humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is
easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).
Worry
"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he
trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the
Rock eternal" (Isaiah 26:3,4).
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
"Then Jesus said to his disciples: 'Therefore I tell you, do not worry
about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will
wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider
the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet
God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of
you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do
this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Consider how
the lilies grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you, not even
Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is
how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and
tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O
you of little faith!'" (Luke 12:22-28).
