International Bible Society Launches Volunteer Program

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado—On December 1, 2004, International Bible Society (IBS) launched The 119:Network, its National Volunteer program. Taking its name from Psalm 119 in the Bible, the network’s goal is to mobilize people throughout U.S. communities who have a desire to promote the worldwide Scripture outreachministries of IBS.

“So many people around the world are struggling with life, searching for answers and for peace. The Bible provides both,” said Mike McNamee, IBS National Director of The 119:Network.

“We want others who share our passion for taking the Bible’s life-giving message to a hurting world to join with us in our mission,” McNamee continued. “As a volunteer, people have opportunities to deliver group presentations, set up display centers, represent IBS at events, and supply individuals with specialized Scripture materials.”

New Bibles in 2007

In 2007 IBS Europe will be releasing two new first edition Bibles in Europe - Russian and Romanian. Following the elaborate development process and rigid methodology, we will be happy to offer high standard translations that use modern language while representing accuracy and faithfulness to the original texts. Both equipped with a wealth of footnotes, these translations are targeted to be used by new believers, for outreach and evangelism, especially among young people, as well as for general reading.
